Jeff is a well-seasoned intellectual property attorney with over thirty-three years of experience in the practice of law.  His practice currently focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, mainly in the areas of electrical engineering, software and methods of business.

Jeff also possesses a wide breadth of experience in intellectual property licensing, contract law, banking, federal taxation, qualified pension and profit-sharing plans, real estate, commercial litigation, title insurance defense, and bankruptcy law.  The cornerstone of Jeff’s patent practice is the preparation and prosecution of applications related to wireless networking, data signal processing, GPS systems, distributed systems, VoIP technologies, electro-optical devices, vehicle navigation systems, electronic testing and measurement systems, and audio receivers and transducers. 

Jeff brings a depth of scientific knowledge and experience to his legal practice.  Prior to becoming an attorney, Jeff served five years in the U.S. Navy which included work as a command-and-control systems analyst at CINCPAC Staff, Honolulu.  After completing his service in the Navy, he served as a systems analyst in the private sector for several years at Crown Zellerbach and Blue Cross of California.

Before joining The Eclipse Group, Jeff was a partner in Hong Iwai & Hulbert (Honolulu, HI), an AV-rated general business practice law firm.  He holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Louisville and received his J.D. from the Hastings College of Law.  He received his LL.M. in taxation from New York University, and a second LL.M. in intellectual property from The John Marshall Law School.  In addition, he has completed the course requirements for an M.S. in computer science at California State University, Fresno.
