Jan joined The Eclipse Group‘s Durham office in August 2007 as administrative assistant to the team’s chief paralegal. During her tenure with the firm, the scope of her responsibilities has increased with regard to overseeing the day to day operations of the office and assisting in the areas of docketing, editing and proofreading patent applications and drawings. In acknowledgement of Jan’s accomplishments and tenure with the firm she was promoted to office administrator, where she continues to serve in multiple capacities supporting the staff and attorneys, and assisting with projects wherever needed.
Prior to her role with The Eclipse Group, Jan worked in various industries as an administrative assistant to chief executive officers, chief operating officers, chief financial officers, chiropractic doctors, corporate attorneys and an architect. Her former employers include the law firm of Harlow, Stark, Hulquist, Evans and London; Oak Value Capital Management, Inc.; Alliance Architecture; and Chiropractic Partners, all located in Durham, North Carolina.
Jan is a native of Durham, where she continues to live on a small farm with her immediate family nearby. When she is not assisting The Eclipse Group, Jan is heavily involved in her local community as a volunteer playing the piano each weekend for local assisted living residents; and is the caretaker of her church’s rose garden, making floral arrangements each week for her church and shut-ins. For the past ten years, Jan has been a member of a local hand bell group, the Hope Valley Ringers, who perform concerts throughout the year at local nursing homes, assisted living facilities and malls, and during the holidays at the Carolina Inn, a well known hotel in neighboring Chapel Hill. She also attends workshops with world-renown hand bell group, the Raleigh Ringers. Jan’s other joys include landscaping, flower gardening and beach trips.Jan graduated with a business diploma from Jordan High School and continued her education at King’s Business College, majoring in Secretarial Science. The skills and expertise acquired through her education and professional experiences have positioned her as an invaluable asset to both our team of attorneys and our clients.
